5 Things You Need to Know for Wednesday

Patch runs down weather, tides, events, community voices and more.

1. WEATHER & TIDES »  Weather.com is calling for mostly sunny weather with highs in the mid-90s on Wednesday. Temperatures will continue to rise through the middle of the week and there’s a chance for thunderstorms this weekend. Read more here.

Tuesday’s tides at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis call for high tides at 11:19 a.m. and low tides at 6:15 a.m. and 5:28 p.m.  Find tides around the Bay by searching here.

2. AROUND TOWN » Wednesday, 12:30 p.m.—Concerts at Senior Activity Center

3. YOU SAID IT » There’s no shortage of new restaurants in west county but it appears a new southern style eatery will be opening this fall in Gambrills. Lisa Weekley-Ramone commented, “If you are from the south, you may have tried this restaurant. The one in Waugh Chapel is the first in the Maryland area. It's projected to open in November. The menu features made to order salads, gourmet sandwich's, personal pizza's, and soups all prepared before your eyes in their glass enclosed kitchen!” Click here to read what else Lisa had to say about Newk’s.

4. ICYMI » In a video on the new Froyo House in Arnold on Tuesday, I showed off my 8-month-old son taking his first bite of frozen yogurt. Did you miss it? Click here to watch the video.

5. PATCH HOW-TO »  Did you know you can promote your fundraiser, yard sale, open house or bake sale on Patch? It’s simple. Create an event and it will show up in our calendar—which is visible to our readers all the time. Then, share it with your friends via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter and wherever else you might find interested parties. We’ll share it, too, in posts like our 5 Things You Need to Know.
