Registrations are under way for the last summer camps, fall child care, and baseball tryouts.

Space Still Available for Next Week AACC Kids in College Camps

If you are finding trouble keeping your child entertained these last few weeks of summer vacation, has announced it has a few spaces left for their Kids in College summer camps the week of August 8.

“Circus Camp,” offered Aug. 8-12 for grades 2-4 and grades 4-8; and “Video Game Animation” grades 4-6 still have spots left. (Grade levels represent grades completed in June.) For registration information, visit www.aacc.edu/kic or call 410-777-2325. 

Fall Openings Available for AACC Child Development Center Slots

The Anne Arundel Community College Child Development Center still has openings for fall for full-time and part-time day and evening care.

The national accredited program offers affordable child care rates and is housed on the AACC Arnold campus. The center is open to the community, but AACC students are offered discounted rates. State purchase-of-care vouchers, child-care subsidies and military subsidies are accepted.

According to the college, all teachers are degreed and provide a high quality and developmentally appropriate early education program for children ages 3-5. The center has full-time or part time openings; hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Evening child care is also offered on a drop-in basis from 5:30-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday in the fall and spring term for children ages 3-10. During their stay, the center provides arts and crafts, story time, games, homework help and outdoor play activities. Snacks are provided.

AACC Sets Baseball Tryouts

Tryouts for the Anne Arundel Community College Pioneers baseball team will be held at 3 p.m. Mondays-Fridays Aug. 15-Sept. 3 at the Skip Brown baseball field on the Arnold campus.

Those interested should sign up with Coach Dave Fletcher at 410-960-6016 or defletcher@aacc.edu.

Prospective student-athletes must complete AACC’s Student-Athlete Information and Pre-participation Physical Exam form and the Accidental Injury Waiver/Physician’s Clearance form to try out. These forms are available online. Athletes should complete and return the forms to Misty Sax, head athletic trainer, in Jenkins Gymnasium.

The team finished the 2011 season as the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 20 runner-up.
