Body of July 4th Drowning Victim Recovered

A 27-year-old Annapolis resident drowned while boating on July 4 on the Magothy River.

The body of a missing 27-year-old boater, who fell into the Magothy River on Thursday, was recovered Friday night, authorities said.

Nate Young, 27, of Annapolis, had been missing since jumping into the water near Dobbins Island while on a boat with seven others.

His body was found just before 6 p.m. Friday after a full day's search using sonar to scan the river bottom, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Capt. Michael Pfaltzgraff.

Young's body was transported to the Maryland Medical Examiner’s office, where a full autopsy will be performed, Pfaltzgraff said.

The Maryland Natural Resources Police and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in the investigation of the incident.
