Former Broadneck Student Dies After Ritchie Highway Accident

A funeral service for Kara R. Micciche is planned for Monday.

Kara R. Micciche, the 17-year-old Pasadena girl who was struck by a car this week while crossing Ritchie Highway, died Wednesday afternoon.

A viewing will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services in Glen Burnie. Micciche's funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie on Monday.

Police said that Micciche and 19-year-old Sean Snyder of Severna Park were struck by a car while trying to cross Ritchie Highway near Earleigh Heights Road on Tuesday night.

Snyder was reportedly in serious, but stable condition on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said there is no indication that the driver left the scene of the accident or that any charges were pending against the driver.

The two teens were reportedly not using the crosswalk and were wearing dark clothing. Police said that the incident remains under investigation.

According to her obituary, Micciche was a student of Chesapeake and Schools. She had just completed the 11th grade. She was a member of the Dance 4 troupe at her schools. Micciche was also an organ donor.

"I will miss you so much Kara and I'm sure I will see you one day again in Heaven," Alyssa Nicole Clayville, one of Micciche's friends, posted on the memorial page.

"Kara and I became friends in ninth grade in science," posted Ahren Ray, another friend. "Every class with her was so much fun."

"Kara, you were one of the most beautiful people I had ever known," friend Deanna Pierce wrote, summing up the feelings of many who are grieving a friend gone too soon.
