Grab and Go: Blossoms, Baseball, and Legos

From the music of Shrek to historical awareness, the first weekend of spring provides fun for all ages.

When/Where:  Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., National Building Museum, 401 F Street, NW, Washington, DC.

Why Go: This annual opening of Washington’s cherry blossom season is for “kids of all ages” featuring hands-on activities, interactive art demonstrations, and exciting indoor and outdoor performances that celebrate spring and explore Japanese arts and design.

When/Where:  Saturday, 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., at the Chesapeake Children’s Museum, 25 Silopanna Rd. in Annapolis.

Why Go:  Children will explore how African Americans have historically worked the Bay and its surrounding shores. 

Price:  $1 per person.

3) Lego Racers Kid Event at Borders

When/Where:  Saturday, 2 p.m., Borders at the Westfield Annapolis Mall.

Why Go: An interactive racing event for Lego Racers and an ultimate Lego experience for kids who love to build and play with cars. Space is limited, so call the store for details.

Price:  Free.

4)  Shrek:  The Musical 

When/Where: Now through April 3 at the Hippodrome Theatre - The France-Merrick Center in Baltimore.

Why Go:  Based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, this family-friendly show brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on the stage.

Price:  $45 - $79.50 

5) Bowie Baysox Free Family FunFest

When/Where:  Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

Why Go: This event offers free rides and games in Louie's Kids Park, inflatables, music and games on the concourse and displays from local businesses and organizations. Fans can also hang out with the Baysox lovable mascot, Louie, the Oriole Bird and "Dora." The Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department will have vehicles on display in the parking lot and a booth set up on the concourse. The Bowie Police Department also has activities planned for kids, and fans can look forward to a face painter from Kreative Kharacters.
