How to Prepare for Hurricane Sandy

BGE is scheduled to have 1,300 workers on-duty throughout the weekend, but residents should be prepared to wait if the storm hits Maryland at full strength.

Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold said Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) will have about 1,300 workers this weekend as Hurricane Sandy approaches the region.

However, as many throughout the Broadneck peninsula know, BGE can become overwhelmed with the high number of power outages and emergency situations throughout the state. As Hurricane Sandy, or The Frankenstorm, approaches, Leopold urges residents to be prepared for the absolute worst-case scenario.

Broadneck communities that are on the water could be some of the most at-risk areas in the state. According to an Anne Arundel County interactive map, the area of the Mago Vista shoreline and other waterfront neighborhoods face serious risks of flooding.
