State Patching Arnold's Section of Ritchie
A crew hired by the Maryland State Highway Administration is stripping the roadway in preparation for repaving.
Drivers along Ritchie Highway have probably already experienced a few extra bumps on their trips.
The Maryland State Highway Administration has contractors working to resurface a 5.5-mile section of the northbound roadway from US Route 50 to Robinson Road, according to SHA spokesman Charlie Gishlar.
The contracted crew works only during evening hours, Gishlar said—from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
The project costs about $2.5 million, and will strip away a section of the roadway to fill it with more modern materials. Gishlar said some sections of the roadway haven't had this treatment in over a decade.
The work should take "only a few weeks," Gishlar said.
