Town Hall Meeting Offers Opportunity to Discuss Rezoning

Before the Anne Arundel County Council continues with the comprehensive rezoning process for District 5, residents may attend a town hall meeting next Tuesday to learn more about how the proposed changes could impact the Broadneck peninsula.

The meeting will take place Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Broadneck High School auditorium and is sponsored by the Broadneck Council of Communities, the Arnold Preservation Council and the Growth Action Network. A and drew a large crowd of concerned residents.

Dick Ladd, District 5 councilman and chairman of the county council, will host the town hall meeting (that was rescheduled from Aug. 23 after an ). Highlights of the evening will include:

• A review of the county's comprehensive rezoning process, which only occurs every 10 years
• A discussion about the rezoning requests under consideration in the Broadneck area
• Featured speakers will provide detailed information on specific rezoning applications for the peninsula.

Event organizers encourage all Broadneck area residents—Arnold, St. Margaret’s, Magothy River, Cape St. Claire and others—to be involved in this process and speak out on requested zoning changes in their neighborhoods.
