UPDATE: 2 Gas Stations Without Power Along Route 50

The power has been out since Tuesday night, an Exxon employee told Patch.

UPDATE (9:02 a.m. 10/4)—Power was restored to the area by 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Wawa employee.

UPDATE (1:05 p.m.)—BGE representative Rachael Lighty said a power outage along Route 50 is a result of a problem with an underground power line, and is affecting 32 customers in the region—including the Wawa and Exxon gas stations.

There is a repair crew currently working on the scene, Lighty said on Wednesday afternoon, but it could take several hours to resolve.

"It's a little more labor-intensive to repair underground lines," she said.

The gas stations on Busch's Frontage Road in Broadneck have been without power since Tuesday night, according to an Exxon employee.

When Patch arrived on the scene Wednesday morning, orange cones had been placed in front of the two entrances to Wawa, and there were no cars parked anywhere on the lot.

Next door at the Exxon, a half-dozen cars passed through the gas station, saw the "no power" sign on the door, and the yellow bags on the gas pumps, and left shortly afterward.

An Exxon employee, who declined to give his name, said the power had been out at the business since Tuesday night.
