ASGT presents "Into the Woods"

ASGT closes its 2013 season with "Into the Woods", Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's familiar but fractured fairy tale.  The story centers around a Baker and his Wife who learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door.  They embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (who climbed the beanstalk).  Everyone's wish is granted at the end of Act One, and they seem poised to live "happily ever after", but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results. What begins as a lively, irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility, the stories we tell our children, and what happens after "happily ever after".

Performances are Thursdays through Sundays at 8:30pm from August 1-September 1. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased on the ASGT website or at 410-268-9212.
