Save the Date for the Annapolis Film Festival!

Annapolis Film Festival announces that its Opening Night Premiere film will be screened on Thursday, March 21st at Maryland Hall. The premiere kicks off a 4 day celebration through Sunday, March 24th, of over 60 films from around the world. The festival will screen narrative features and narrative shorts as well as documentary shorts and features. "With almost 400 submissions in its inaugural year, the festival will have quality films, great storytelling and thought provoking films. There will be something for everyone. We also have large number of filmmakers and special guests coming who will show our town what needs to happen to make a great film," says Lee Anderson, festival co-artistic director.

There will also be some special showcases offered such as the Environmental showcase, the African-American Education showcase, a WIFV sponsored International Women Director's shorts showcase, the student showcase, and yes, even a late night Horror showcase!

Participating venues include...Maryland Hall, St. John's Key Auditorium, St. Anne's Church, Banneker Douglass Museum and The Bay Theatre.

Festival tickets and passes will be available after our "Come Watch the Oscars Red Carpet event" at Loews Annapolis Hotel on February 24th (ticket to this benefit are $125 each). Those who attend that night get first dibs on the limited number of passes (general pass at $75) available for the festival. Individual tickets are $10.

There will be over 20 filmmakers in attendance walking the street of Annapolis during the four day celebration as well special panel guests, Albert Maysles who will show and discuss clips never before seen from GIMME SHELTER; Bernardo Bertulucci's film editor Gabriella Chrsitiani will be present to discuss her work on THE SHELTERING SKY and THE LAST EMPEROR, and Ambassador Shabazz will be on hand to facilitate the panel on African-American education at the Banneker Douglass Museum.
