Another Cape Weekend

Neither photo posted here is a favorite. However, both are significant for one reason; both were shot exactly one year apart (within 10 minutes), and from almost the same spot. I had an opportunity to get up before the sun this morning and take some great photos around the Cape.

I was surprised at 5:30 a.m. how many Capers were out and about. There were crabbers on the pier, someone netting grass shrimp on the beach, kayakers putting in at the Swan Drive marina, and fisherman putting boats in at the Deep Creek marina. Almost everyone was friendly and talkative, much much different than the co-workers I encounter at that hour during the week.

I know getting up before the sun is an unreasonable request to most out there. However, I would encourage you to take one Saturday or Sunday morning to venture out early to see and meet your neighbors around the Cape's beaches and parks. You'll be amazed at what you see, and who you'll meet along the way.

In case you're asking why I have two photos taken exactly a year apart, the answer isn't as interesting as you would think. Our kids go to grandma's this time every year, so with a quiet house, I ventured out early. What is interesting though, is when I shot the photo last year, I thought it was one of the best I had taken to that point. Now, I don't think that as much.  Truth is, neither are all that good.

This morning's trip was more about getting out of the house  than taking a memorable image. Isn't that what most hobbies are all about?
