Funeral Friday for BHS Graduate who Died in Ocean City Plane Crash

Thomas "Tom" James Geoghegan, Jr., 43, of Ocean City, died June 30 in a plane crash in Ocean City.

A police officer and a Broadneck High School graduate died in a plane crash in Ocean City on June 30, and his funeral will be in Annapolis this Thursday.

Thomas "Tom" James Geoghegan, Jr., 43, of Ocean City, and a police officer, Joshua Adickes, 27, of Berlin, died when their small plane crashed into the ocean after taking off from Ocean City Municipal Airport on June 30, according to CBS Baltimore.

Geoghegan was a decorated veteran of the Ocean City Police Department, where he worked undercover as a narcotics officer in operations such as the Tipsy Taxi. During the operation, he posed as a taxi driver and targeted illegal drug users for conviction, according to his obituary.

In January, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his work in the neighborhood watch program in Ocean City.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., in Annapolis. Funeral services begin at 11 a.m., Friday, July 12 at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 710 Ridgely Ave., in Annapolis.
