Stopping to Introduce Myself

Wondering who's behind the curtain at Broadneck Patch?

Though I've been guest editing Broadneck's Patch for the past two weeks, this is the first time I've stopped for a moment to say who I am.

Sorry it took me so long.

My wife and I moved to the area in March to begin her career as a midwife at a birthing center in Arnold. As a result, we're still very new to the area, and I'm learning more about it every day.

I've been a reporter for Patch since May, covering general assignments until being given the county council and school board beats over the summer. These jobs keep my ears firmly affixed to the tracks of county politics. Recently I was also given the opportunity to oversee Broadneck's Patch site and help generate some new content for it as a guest editor.

I want to make this site a place that connects you to your community. Ideally this would become somewhere you feel comfortable sharing the happenings in your life, while also learning about what's going on in your community at large.

What do you think has been missing from our Broadneck coverage in the past? News, stories, events, celebrations and tournaments—I'm interested in them all.

But to make this happen, I'll need a little help. Broadneck is still new to me, and I would love to sit down for coffee with anyone willing to chat.

If you're interested in showing a new guy the ropes, or sharing ways you think Patch could improve, I've got an open door. Just drop me a line at dfranksmith@gmail.com, and we'll make it happen.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
