Local Toddler Injured in Lawn Mower Accident

Two-year-old rushed to John Hopkins Children's Center on Sunday morning.

A 2-year-old boy suffered life threatening injuries on Sunday morning after he ran into the path of a lawn mower, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials.

The incident occurred in the 1600 block of Canonade Court in Revell Downs. The boy was rushed to Johns Hopkins Children's Center after the incident occurred around 11 a.m.

The boy lost his right leg below the knee and his left foot due to the accident, according to a fire department official.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, the power lawn mower is one of the most dangerous tools around the home. Each year, approximately 68,000 persons with injuries caused by power mowers were treated in emergency departments. More than 9,000 of the people hurt were younger than 18 years.
