Car Thrown 50 Feet in Morning Accident

Driver blacked out, hit other vehicles, with one crashing into home.

A man headed to get a cup of coffee this morning blacked out while driving in his neighborhood, crashing his SUV into other vehicles and sending one flying 50 feet into the side of a house, according to Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

The accident occurred today around 9 a.m. in the 300 block of Ternwing Drive in Arnold. The driver, the only person hurt in the incident, was transported by land to the shock trauma center with serious injuries. The driver was able to communicate with firefighters about the incident during the rescue, Hamilton said.

Neighbors, visibly shaken by the incident, collected along the neighborhood street during the rescue and cleanup operations, discussing what they had witnessed and how lucky it was that there was no one else was hurt.
