A Halethorpe man has been charged with trying to rob the BB&T Bank in Glen Burnie, even though a bank employee thwarted his effort to steal cash.
According to Anne Arundel County Police, Andrew Christopher Martin, 26, entered the bank at 7381 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. about 2:10 p.m. Thursday, June 5, and presented a note demanding currency.
The employees refused Martin’s demand and he promptly fled the bank without any money.
Patrol officers responded to the area and a person of interest was located. Martin tried to get on a public bus to leave the area, but video footage from the bank and witnesses confirmed to police he was the suspect in the attempted robbery. Police said Martin then admitted to committing the robbery.
Martin, of 4168 McDowell Lane in Halethorpe, was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and related offenses.
