Man Assaulted at Whitehall Wendy's

Victim confronted man after seeing the suspect trying to break into his car.

A Chester man was assaulted at the on Whitehall Road on Sunday night after confronting a suspect trying to break into his car, according to a county police release.

Officers were called to the Wendy’s around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and spoke with the victim, a 44-year-old male from Chester. The man told police that as he was leaving the restaurant, he observed a white male with a thin build wearing a tan jacket with a hood attempting to break into his 2002 Lexus ES 300, which was parked in the parking lot.

According to police, the victim approached the suspect and confronted him. The suspect swung an unknown object that struck and injured the victim and then fled the area on foot. The suspect was last seen running towards the wooded area behind the adjacent .

A K-9 search and aviation scan of the area was unsuccessful in locating the suspect. 

The police department recommends that citizens avoid putting themselves  this kind of potentially harmful situation.

Justin Mulcahy, public information officer for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, said, "Contact the police department immediately to report any criminal activity and be prepared to provide as much detailed information as possible such as a suspect or vehicle description and any specifics on the incident."
