Satuday:  According to Chief Matthew Tobias of Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue, a male pedestrian was struck on Route 50 near Cape St. Claire Road around around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Tobias said that an off-duty firefighter came upon the victim and immediately requested the Maryland State Police helicopter transport due to the severity of the injuries. The early report did not indicate what lane the pedestrian was in, his age, or other descriptors, nor any description of the vehicle involved in the accident.

Unfortunately, the MSP helicopter was grounded due to cloudy weather. While rescue personnel at the scene waited for that information, the condition of the victim deteriorated and they made a decision to transport him priority one by ambulance to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Tobias said that the victim was suffering grave, life-threatening injuries.

Maryland State Police are at the scene investigating the accident.
