Police Search for Purse Snatcher at Broadneck Park

A parked car had its window smashed, and a purse stolen at the park, police said.

A thief smashed in a car's window Saturday to grab a purse in a parked car at Broadneck Park, according to police.

Anne Arundel County police responded at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday to the park, located at 618 Broadneck Rd., for a report of a theft from a vehicle. 

The officer said the victim's car had been parked at 7:45 p.m. When she returned to the vehicle, the front passenger side window had been smashed in, and her purse was missing.

Police searched the area for witnesses, but found none, and there is no information on a suspect at this time, according to AACPD spokesman Justin Mulcahy. 

The Friends of Broadneck Park issued the following statement on its Facebook page regarding the incident:

"We are so sorry this person's experience at our park turned out so badly. Please remember not to leave valuable[s] visible in your car (guilty, done it a million times,) and report suspicious activity. Let's all look out for each other," according to the posting.
