Sandy Point Drowning Called a 'Tragedy'

The Baltimore Sun is reporting the 6-year-old Baltimore boy strayed from view from his family on July 3.

According to an investigative report by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police, the Baltimore boy who drowned at on the July 4 weekend strayed away from the sight of his family and was discovered missing after it was too late, the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday.

SaQuan Kennedy, 6, who was in the picnic area with his family members before 8 a.m. on July 3, strayed away from the family and entered the water over 200 yards away, obscured from the view of the family by buildings and trees, according to the report.

NRP officials called the incident a “tragedy” but said proper procedures were followed. They also urged adults to be aware of the location of their children at the park at all times.
