Smoke Wafts into County from Kent Island Fire

UPDATE (8:30 p.m.)—Smell smoke outside? It's coming from a massive brush fire in Queen Anne's County that started Sunday morning.

The Baltimore Sun reported Sunday night that the seven-alarm fire swept through about 40 acres, burning for nearly 12 hours, and it's expected to smolder through the night into Monday morning.

Anne Arundel County firefighters are reportedly assisting Queen Anne's County firefighters in battling the massive blaze in southern Kent Island.

ABC2 News reported that a huge brush fire started Sunday morning south of Kent Island near Romancoke Road. There have been no injuries reported as a result of the blaze, officials said on Sunday afternoon. The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.

Anne Arundel County firefighters have been dispatched to assist in fighting the fire, and CBS Baltimore is reporting that aerial reconnaissance is being used to aid firefighters.
