Two Broadneck High Students Assaulted After Football Game

A teen from Glen Burnie was charged with robbery and second-degree assault. Police are still investigating and looking for another suspect.

Two students were assaulted and one was robbed of an iPod after the school's football game Friday night, according to police.

A 16-year-old Glen Burnie boy was arrested in connection with the incident and police are searching for another suspect.

Anne Arundel County Police confirmed reports that Broadneck Patch received after the high school football game on Friday night that an incident occurred as students were on their way to a in .

“They were headed over to 5th Quarter and we will be discussing this with our security people and the school to see what can be done to mitigate these kind of things moving forward,” said Courtney Della, an administrator for 5th Quarter via email.

According to police, an officer working a second job at the event held at the park on Broadneck Road was told a student was assaulted in the area around 9:30 p.m.

Police said two 15-year-old boys from Annapolis, both Broadneck High School students, told the officer that they were walking from the school to the park when two men approached them near the .

One victim was reportedly grabbed and ordered to empty his pockets, which contained an iPod. Police said the other victim tried to intervene and was punched by one of the suspects, who was located a short time later at the park and identified by the victims.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Glen Burnie, who does not attend Broadneck High School, and charged him on a juvenile citation with robbery and second-degree assault.

The second suspect has not been identified and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.

Della said that the 5th Quarter event has a 25-member security team and is working on a plan for securing the route the kids take from the school to the event in the park.

"We are committed to 5th Quarter being a safe event," Della said. "We will not even hold the event without 100 adult volunteers."
