U.S. Coastguard Crews Respond to Boat Taking on Water

Crews responded to the 23-foot boat north of the Bay Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

A rescue crew form the came to the aid of three people in a boat north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Saturday as it started taking on water. 

According to a press release, the boater called to report the incident around 12:50 p.m. Saturday, saying that water was coming into the boat, but that the flooding was under control at the time.

Crews in two 25-foot response boats responded to the scene. One crew brought a dewatering pump to remove the water while another crew towed the boat to  according to the release. 

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the Maryland Natural Resources Police also assisted in the efforts. 

"It was a great coordinated response from all agencies involved," said Petty Officer 1st Class Jason Rodocker, an operations unit controller at Sector Baltimore, in the press release. "The members in distress were prepared. They had life jackets on and contacted the Coast Guard via marine-band radio so that we were able to provide the assistance needed.”

There were no reports of injury, according to the press release.
