New Legislative District Map Still Splits Broadneck

A revised redistricting plan doesn't mend the split region.

Gov. Martin O'Malley unveiled a new state legislative redistricting plan this week that reunites Severna Park but divides the Broadneck peninsula into two districts. The details of the new redistricting plan and reaction to it were reported in The Capital.

In December, . That map divided Broadneck between Districts 33 and 30A. Since 2002, the region has been united under District 30.

On Wednesday, during the first legislative session, O'Malley showed off a revised map that returned Severna Park to a single district. But that revision did not restore Broadneck's region to a single district. Under both the new plan and the revised plan, the region is split between Districts 33 and 30A.
