An 18-year-old Annapolis man survived overnight in the Chesapeake Bay on Sunday by clinging to a sailboat's hull after it had flipped. The boat underwent repairs the night before, and a strong gust of wind caused the vessel to capsize while he was alone on the bay after midnight.

The Maryland General Assembly ended its session Monday at midnight without taking action on proposed revenue measures and passing a budget that will require $512 million in cuts beginning July 1. Many lawmakers said O'Malley would likely call a special session to tackle the tax measures that were mostly not voted on before the $35.6 billion balanced budget was passed as required by law. 

A fire on Baybourne Road Tuesday was quickly extinguished with no reported injuries, an Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman said. Firefighters arrived to find a 10-by-20-foot shed engulfed in flames. Capt. James Rostek said firefighters began working on it and extinguished the flames around 8:30 a.m.

Here's a new feature I tried out this week that seemed to hit with a lot of readers. There were some great deals at Broadneck-area grocery stores and I kept track of the ones that seemed like the best. Among them, super-cheap chicken breasts, tasty strawberries, pineapples and more. 



Nancy Greer, an Arnold entrepreneur, was recently named the Maryland Women in Business Champion of the Year. Greer will be among those honored at the 28th annual Maryland Small Business Week Awards on Friday. Greer owns the  located in Arnold. She's been a local business leader for years.
