AACC Baseball Secures 30th Win This Season

The Pioneers will play a conference game Friday after their 30th win this season.

’s baseball team earned their 30th win of the season on Thursday afternoon with a victory over Community College of Baltimore College in Essex (CCBC).

Riding the arm of sophomore pitcher Brooks Miller, the Pioneers were in a pitching duel with Essex for much of the game. Miller won the battle pitching seven innings allowing just two hits while striking out two and holding the Knights scoreless. Glenn Watson pitched the final two innings to secure the shut out while the Pioneers would plate five runs for the 5-0 final.

Anne Arundel scored early starting the second inning with two singles from Daniel Seeba and Zach Weiss. Seeba stole second and the single by Weiss moved him over to third. Braden Goughenour grounded out which allowed Seeba to plate the first run of the game.

The game remained 1-0 in favor of AACC for the next several innings until another pair of leadoff singles in the sixth allowed the Pioneers to add another run. Burnell Dailey singled to lead off, stole second base and an error advanced him to third. Kevin Kean came through with a single to score Dailey.

Two innings later in the top of the eighth, the Pioneers busted the game open scoring three runs to a take a 5-0 lead. Kean, Kody Hines and Seeba all singled to load the bases with no outs. Zach Weiss came to the plate and crushed a 3-1 pitch for a double to plate Kean and Anthony Arias, who replaced Hines on the base paths. With Seeba advancing to third on the double Eddie Speakman came to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to score Seeba for the third run of the inning.

Watson allowed just one base runner in his two innings of work to shut the door on Essex and ensure the win.
