AACC To Announce New President Tuesday

The final three candidates for president come from California and New York.

After an extensive search,  (AACC) officials said they are ready to name the sixth president of the college.

At a press conference to be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, college officials will name their newest leader, according to a press release issued Monday.

  • Andreea Serban, interim vice chancellor of educational services at Coast Community College District in Costa Mesa, CA
  • Dawn Lindsay, president of Glendale Community College in Glendale, CA
  • Peter Katopes, vice president for academic affairs at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, NY

The three candidates were narrowed down from a national search that included 120 applicants.

Thewill retire in August. Smith will have been president for 18 years, the longest tenure of the five presidents since the college's founding in 1961.
