AACC to Host Turkey Trot, Food Drive

Burn off calories in preparation for the Thanksgiving feast at Anne Arundel Community College on Nov. 23.

While some people spend the day before Thanksgiving preparing for the holiday feast or planning shopping trips for Black Friday, others will spend the day doing the "turkey trot" at (AACC).

The will take place on Nov. 23 at noon, along with a one-mile jaunt and food drive. Nearly 200 people participated in . First place overall winner in 2010 was Nathan Bickell of Annapolis with a time of 17:00.

AACC will collect food items to stock the campus food pantry in the Student Life Office for students who cannot afford to buy food. Items needed include:

  • Microwavable dinners and snacks
  • Cups of fruit
  • Breakfast bars or granola bars
  • Drinks (small juice bottles or pouches)
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Cereal
  • Soup

Turkey trot awards will be presented at 1:15 p.m. in Jenkins Gymnasium for predicted time and fastest time categories, as well as for runners younger than 15 and teams. Entry fees are $20 for the 5K and $15 for the one-mile jaunt. All proceeds will benefit the AACC Fitness Center. Call 410-777-2302 or visit AACC's website for registration information.
