AACC To Offer Certificate Program for Veterans Counseling

New courses aimed at counseling veterans are scheduled to start this fall at the college.

New courses aimed at counseling veterans could begin next school year at e (AACC), The Capital reports.

This would be the first program offering training in counseling veterans in the state, AACC officials said on Tuesday. It would teach key subjects such as the best practices in treating veterans who are suffering psychological or physical trauma after coming back from a war, according to The Capital.

The new coursework was approved by the college's Board of Trustees on Tuesday,

The college also employs many former veterans, including Vietnam veterans Harry Simpson and Ray Turner, who ceremony at the college.

The coursework is pending approval by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. If it is approved, these new classes will start in the fall, and college officials told The Capital that they expect about a dozen students.
