AACC Volleyball Season Has Rough Start

The Lady Pioneers are recovering from two losses at the start of their season.

The following article was submitted to the Broadneck Patch by Duane Herr, Physical Education and Athletic Assistant at  (AACC).

Returning home for just their second match at Jenkins Gym this young season, Anne Arundel women’s volleyball hosted CCBC Essex on Tuesday night.

The Pioneers were looking to avenge a Sept. 8 loss to Essex at a Baltimore City CC tournament. In the first set AACC fell into an early hole but battled back to swap leads with Essex. After matching one another point for point, Essex edged the Pioneers 25-23.

The second set featured a lot of the same as both teams held and lost leads several times. The set would need more than 25 points as the teams were tied at 24, needing a two point lead to win the set. Anne Arundel topped Essex 28-26 to tie the match at 1-1.

Despite having the momentum the Pioneers were down early in the third set. Essex would close the door and win 25-15 for the 2-1 advantage. In the fourth set Essex would string 10 straight points to win the set 25-15 and the match 3-1.
