The Lady Pioneers will face Richland College of Dallas in its first game of a national women's soccer tournament on Thursday.

Anne Arundel Community College's Pioneers earned its spot in the nationals by claiming the regional and district championship title against the top-seeded Potomac State College.

In the match against Potomac on Oct. 27, AACC took the early lead and carried a 2-0 lead into halftime. Each team would score a goal in the second half but it was AACC capturing the Region and District title with a 3-1 victory.

Meghenn Jackson, Nichole Forrester and Katie Cox each scored goals for the Pioneers and each earned All-Tournament team honors. Chelsea Clark-Ames tallied six saves in the final match and also earned tournament team honors.

It was the Pioneers' 11th win of the season, and the seventh victory in a row.

The Women’s Division III National Championship Tournament will be played from Nov. 8-11 at Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden, NY.

Footage from all tournament games can be watched live online via NJCAA TV.
