Around AACC: Week of Oct. 10

A variety of activities will be taking place at Anne Arundel Community College this week, including a Muslim oral history reception and a free Zumba class.

Muslim Oral History Reception,
Oct. 11 at 2:30 p.m.

Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

2011 Baltimore-Washington Conference on Aging: Trends and Opportunities for the Next Generation, Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Conference is offered in partnership with Partners in Care Maryland to learn about transportation and mobility, health and vitality, civic engagement and livable communities. Call for cost information: 410-777-2941.

Latin Dance Party, Oct. 14 at 8 to 11 p.m.
Free dance party in the Student Union dining hall is part of the celebration of co-sponsored by the AACC Student Association Campus Activities Board and AACC Spanish Club. Activities will include music by disc jockey Guess and refreshments, dance the salsa, merengue, bachata and reggaeton. For information, call 410-777-2218.

, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
The women's volleyball team hosts a DIG PINK match vs. CCBC-Catonsville. There will be giveaways, a bake sale, raffle and apparel for sale with portions of the proceeds going to breast cancer awareness. Admission is free and attendees are encouraged to wear pink.

AACC Foundation Gala and 50th Anniversary Celebration Kickoff, Oct. 15 at 6 to 11:30 a.m.
Black-tie gala features music by AACC Jazz Ensemble and band Bobby and the Believers, food, silent and live auction. Event will be held at the Roger W. “Pip” Moyer Community Recreation Center in Annapolis. For ticket information, call  410-777-2515 or email foundation@aacc.edu.

Zumba Fitness Class, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.
Free class offered as part of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and will be held at the Cade Center for Fine Arts in room 103. For details, call 410-777-2043.
