Anne Arundel Community College’s baseball team is anxious to get their 2013 season underway but Mother Nature has had other plans. The Pioneers have had their first three dates cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

AACC was set to kick off their season with a home opener against Stevenson University JV. The doubleheader was scheduled for a noon start on Feb. 17.

This past weekend the rainy conditions forced the Pioneers to cancel doubleheaders scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday Lackawanna was set to visit the Arnold Campus for a 1pm start. Despite the pleasant conditions on Sunday, the field was still too saturated to play the noon doubleheader against County College of Morris.

The Pioneers have played a scrimmage on their home field but with the cancellations their season will now start on the road against Louisburg College of North Carolina. Louisburg, who is currently 4-2, will host AACC for a single game on Friday, March 1 and doubleheader on Saturday, March 2.

With a quick turnaround, the Pioneers will host Niagara County CC on Sunday for their home opener. The scheduled doubleheader is set for noon.

The team will look to build on their success of last season in which they set a school record with 40 wins, finishing 40-16.
