Chesapeake Academy Students to Participate in Jumping Jack Challenge

Along with the first lady and more than 20,000 others, local kindergartners through fifth-graders will jump continuously for one minute to try to break a world record.

students will take a minute out of their busy schedule on Wednesday to help National Geographic Kids break a Guinness World Record in a worldwide effort led by first lady Michelle Obama.

Kindergarten through fifth-grade students at Chesapeake Academy will perform jumping jacks for one minute. Students who do their jumping jacks correctly and continuously will have their minute "counted" towards the ultimate goal, according to a release from Chesapeake Academy.

The amount of jumping jacks completed is not part of the Let's Jump! challenge because the record is for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period. To set a new record, more than 20,425 people need to do jumping jacks for one minute between 3 p.m. on Oct. 11 and 3 p.m. on Oct. 12.
