31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast with guest speaker Maryland Congressman Elijah E. Cummings

Doors open at 7:30 a.m., event begins 8 a.m. and will be held in the David S. Jenkins Gymnasium.  The proceeds from this event help maintain the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at Anne Arundel Community College.

New this year to the breakfast is an exhibit and awards program stemming from the “Visionary Kids Contest,” a performing and visual arts contest for middle and high school students. There were 148 individual entries – 76 written pieces, including essays and poetry; 44 art entries ranging from posters to sculpture; 14 multimedia pieces; and 14 performance art entries.

An additional change to this year's event includes having the master of ceremony role in the hands of two students: Jillian Buck, student member of the Anne Arundel County Board of Education, and Phebe Ferguson, president of the Meade High School Class of 2012.
