Marine and Maritime Career Fair

On Saturday, Feb. 26 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. the Anne Arundel County Public Schools, the National Sailing Center & Hall of Fame, and the Eastport Yacht Club Foundation are partnering to present a Marine and Maritime Career Fair at Annapolis High School.

The Marine and Maritime Career Fair (the first of its kind in the Annapolis area) will give students in grades 8 through 12 the opportunity to meet representatives from maritime employers, such as:  the Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Boat U.S., Oceaneering, Weems and Plath, Watermark Journeys and Annapolis Custom Canvas.

More than 60 representatives from corporations, government agencies, educational institutions, marine service businesses, and the military are expected to meet with interested students.  These representative will discuss career opportunities such as: marine biology, naval architecture, boat building, boat canvas and sail manufacturing, engine mechanics, tugboat captain, marine police, marine product sales and marine environmental science.

The admission to the Career Fair is free with pre-registration making students eligible for donated door prizes. To register for the Career Fair go to  www.nshof.org and click on Education.
