Inside the Business of Broadneck High's DJ

Tommy Gatzionis has expanded his business from a venture he set out on fresh from high school.

Tommy Gatzionis, a 2009 graduate of Broadneck High School, is in the midst of a successful DJ career that began fresh out of high school, he recently told The Capital.

In a business profile in The Capital, Gatzionis, 21, the owner of Tommy Gatz Entertainment, said he has expanded his business to 30 employees.

He said he got his start as a DJ after noticing that the people high schools normally hired for their dances didn't seem to care about the students. He set out to create a company that changed that relationship.

Gatzionis has been the official DJ at Broadneck High's dances since 2011, and he also has deejayed at other high school dances, including South River. He and his crew film the dances and edit them into bite-sized videos distributed online to students and friends, which have proven popular on Facebook.
