Lego Robots to Battle it Out at AACC

An army of plastic robots built by young students will descend on Anne Arundel Community College later this month for the annual Battle of the Bay Lego competition.

Teams of students aged 9-16 have programmed and constructed robots from Lego parts for a series of challenges. This year's theme is "Nature's Fury," according to a press release.

The mechanized creations will scoop up pellets, collect rings, and then bring them back to their humans for points.

Teams from schools across Anne Arundel and beyond will compete for glory and prestige among the crowd of young engineers.

The event kicks off Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Arnold campus of AACC.

Watch teams of youth complete robotic challenges with Legos® based on this year’s theme, “Nature’s Fury,” in a FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) qualifier tournament on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Anne Arundel Community College.

Spectators are welcome to watch and pull for their favorites when the tournament begins at 12:30 p.m. in this “Battle of the Bay” competition in the Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 219 on AACC’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.

The FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) is a worldwide robotics program for students ages 9 to 16. Each year, FLL teams complete a challenge that includes programming a robot to complete a particular course, and doing a project based on that year’s theme.
