Montessori School Launches New Summer Programs

Programs for art, music and sports are available throughout the summer.

(MICH) has announced new summer programs for youngsters this year involving art, sports and music.

MICH has several activities planned for children up to age 9, and the action starts in June.

The first program starting this year will be "Art a la Mode: Making Art in the Style of Famous Artists," starting June 18. Children 5-7 years old will explore art concepts with movement, story, art history and making their own creations. Each day a different theme (such as architecture, animals and critters or assemblage) will be explored.

The morning will begin by viewing examples of several artists’ work in the day’s subject area and learning about their careers before kids make their own creations. Featured artists will include Frank Lloyd Wright, Andy Goldsworthy, Alexander Calder and James Whistler.

Starting July 9, another program is "Kindermusik Adventures: Around the World." Children 5–7 years old will explore the customs, music, games, stories and food of Germany, India, Africa, England and Malaysia.
