PHOTOS: Belvedere Students Celebrate Walk to School Day

Most Belvedere students live within 1 to 1.5 miles of the school.

Dozens of Belvedere Elementary School students who walked to school on Wednesday morning received a few encouraging items from the assistant principal.

The school was taking part in celebrating International Walk to School Day on Wednesday. Assistant Principal Tamara Kelly handed out pedometers, candy and stickers to students who chose to walk to school.

As a designated walking school, most Belvedere Elementary students live within 1 to 1.5 miles of the school. This week, faculty members have been encouraging their students to walk to school with their parents if possible.

Kelly handed out pedometers and advice, reminding students that 10,000 steps per day is a strong goal to follow for good health. An Anne Arundel County police representative was also at the school Wednesday morning to hand out additional health information.
