Poll: Would You Keep Your Child Home on Standardized Test Day?

Frustration among parents about the heterogeneous grouping of students in Anne Arundel County may lead some to "opt out" of students taking the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) tests.

Some parents against the of students are hoping to have their concerns heard and addressed by Anne Arundel County Public Schools. They're signing a petition and some are talking about "opting out" of having their students take the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) tests.

In Broadneck, showed that most respondents did not agree with the concept of grouping higher performing students with lower performers in honors classes.

The rate of participation in the MSA is a measure of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) that determines whether a school passes or fails to meet minimum standards set forth by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
