School's Out for Summer

Broadneck High School closed its doors Friday just after noon, ending the 2012 school year.

At noon on Friday, students closed their books, grabbed their bags and ran out the front door of (BHS), eager for summer to start.

Friday was the last day of the 2012 school year at BHS.

Patch caught up with Assistant Principal Bill Eggert to ask him to reflect back on the year's events. He said Friday was the end of a great year that started with an unexpected event.

"On our first day of school, we had to ," Eggert said. "We had about 500 freshmen there, they were all eating their free ice cream sandwich, and suddenly we all had to get out of the building."

Eggert said he couldn't recall anything like that in his experience as an administrator.

"But overall, this has just been a very good school year. Everything went smoothly and quickly. There's just a couple hours left, and then it'll all be over," he said.
