States on Parade at Windsor Farm

Local fifth graders present homemade miniature floats focused on every state in the country.

East, west, north, and south – every state in the country was featured at Windsor Farm Elementary School on Friday as the fifth grade class presented a float parade for family and friends.

The event was an extension of student learning organized by Media Center specialist Linda Brooks.

“The students have each chosen a state to study and learn about,” said Brooks who served as the emcee for the parade event. “Once they did their research, they built a miniature parade float that featured information they learned.”

Oklahoma was the choice for student Emma Campbell whose grandmother is from the area. Her design included an impressive tornado scene.

“I am also really fascinated by the Native Americans there,” she said.

Friends and family, as well as the current fourth grade class, were treated to a good look at each project with the students proudly pulling their floats throughout the route in the school cafeteria.
