Windsor Farm Rocks Breakfast

First fifth grade event a huge success for the school.

It is a crazy time of year to schedule a new family event, but some fifth grade parents at Windsor Farm Elementary School had a hunch that the holidays were a great time for kids and their families to enjoy some quality time together.

"We knew we needed a fundraiser and this idea seemed like a great family event," explained fifth grade parent Paula Richard, who, along with Maria Boldt, Marjorie Craig, and Karen Felton planned and coordinated a hugely successful Pancake Breakfast and Bazaar on Saturday [Dec. 4].

Hot off the griddle, pancakes, along with sausage and other tasty breakfast items, were served by WFES parents. Kids were provided a variety of carnival-like games and activities to keep them happily occupied while parents were offered to get some holiday shopping done through items that local vendors were selling.

Fifth grade parents, PTO members, and former WFES students who came back to their alma mater were on hand to help out, whether it was selling carnival game tickets, manning the cakewalk, or selling tickets to a raffle of donations made by the community.

Margie Hughes, a former WFES teacher who retired last year, was one of the vendors providing information about her photography business to bazaar attendees. "I love coming back and seeing all of the families," said Hughes whose daughter and daughter-in-law both teach at the school and whose granddaughter also attends WFES.

"We have wonderful attendance today," marveled WFES assistant principal Jesse Mitchell. "We are really pleased to have so much support from our community."
