Broadneck High Grad Earns National Honor

Adam Greene was one of five athletes nationwide to earn an award Wednesday for athletic and academic achievements and community service.

A Broadneck High grad was named a winner of a national student athlete award.

The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame announced Wednesday that Adam Greene, currently a freshman at the University of Maryland, was named the east region winner of the organization's National High School Scholar-Athlete Awards. 

"The NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Awards showcase first-class high school football players from across the country," NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell said in a release. "This year's honorees have set the standard for accomplishment on the field, in the classroom and in the community. We are truly proud to honor their success in December."

Greene, now a placekicker for the Terps, owns a state record with 27 career high school field goals and was a four-year starter at Broadneck, according to his profile on Maryland's website.

Greene and the other four winners nationwide will be honored at a ceremony in New York in December. Players are honored based on athletic and academic achievements and community service, according to the release.
