Centrowitz Grew Up With Olympians

Local Olympic running sensation Matthew Centrowitz' father also was an Olympian.

Matthew Centrowitz, a Broadneck High graduate and now an Olympic runner for the United States, shares the blood of an Olympian—his father.

Matt Centrowitz Sr. ran the 1,500 for the U.S. Olympic Team in 1976 and qualified for the 1980 summer games. This summer his son will follow in his footsteps and attempt to claim a gold medal at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

The Baltimore Sun recently chronicled both Centrowitz runners, and detailed the path that led the newest Centrowitz star to London. One of Centrowitz' coaches, Alberto Salazar, was also an Olympic runner and teammate to Centrowitz Sr.
