LAST CHANCE: Register for Football Camp by Friday

Time is running out to register for this football camp in Cape St. Claire.

Broadneck football players will get a chance to train with professional players at a summer camp this year, but only if they register by Friday.

Registration for the Cape St. Claire Cougars' 2012 football summer camp ends on Friday. Registration can be done online at the Cape St. Claire Recreation Council's website.

The cost per player is $80 and is for kids aged 6-14. The camp takes place at June 21-22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with registration starting at 8:30 a.m.

The football camp features special guest coaches and professional players including (subject to change): 

  • Matt Katula—Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens, center
  • Bruce Laird—Colts and Chargers, all-pro safety
  • James Vollono—Towson, tight ends and special teams coach
  • Jason Budroni: Former offensive lineman, University Of Miami, national championship team
  • Robert Ehrlich (former Governor of Maryland): Former graduate assistant Coach, Wake Forest University; former linebacker (two-time captain), Princeton University; former all-state player, Gilman High School

Each camper will get a T-shirt and take part in competitions. They will receive awards, learn offensive and defensive positions and developed speed and agility for the sport.

"If it's your first time playing or have been playing for years, you will learn something and have fun. We have some of the very best football coaches working this camp," according to a release.

What to expect:

  • Campers will be placed according to age and ability.
  • Campers will be assigned to veteran coaches, with low player-to-coach ratios.
  • Campers will receive both individual and group instruction.
  • Campers will increase their knowledge and understanding of the game.

Campers should bring:

  • Bag lunch each day, a backpack with camper's name on it, any medications, asthma inhalers, one change of clothes and sunscreen
  • Shorts, shirt and running-type shoes (cleats are recommended). 
  • Water and drinks will be provided

Special guest coaches and professional players (subject to change):

  • Matt Katula - Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens, center
  • Bruce Laird - Colts and Chargers, all pro safety
  • James Vollono - Towson - TE and special teams coach
  • speed and agility training from Athletic Performance Inc. (API) 

High School Coaches:

  • Dave Kintigh: Offensive coach, Miami Palmetto High School; former wide receiver, University Of Miami, national championship team.
  • Mike Coyle: Former quarterback (three-time all-American, conference player of the year), Shepherd University, St. Mary’s High School offensive coordinator.
  • Rob Harris: Broadneck High School. Varsity Head Coach.
  • Scott Harmon: Broadneck High School. Varsity offensive cooridinator. Former Meade High School head coach, 21 years of high school and college coaching experience.
  • Bob Bohanan: Broadneck High School. 

 Featured Youth Coaches:
