Olympian From Broadneck Meets Prince Charles

Farrah Hall, a Broadneck High graduate in 1999, met with Prince Charles before the Olympics in London recently.

Meeting royalty is just one of the perks to being an Olympic athlete, as Farrah Hall, a 1999 graduate of , learned recently.

, will be competing for the United States in late July.

Hall met with Prince Charles—the Prince of Wales—on June 26 while attending an event prior to the start of the games.

Patch caught up with Hall through email in the middle of her busy schedule, and was able to capture her impressions of the meeting with the prince.

"It was a little unreal meeting Prince Charles, and the first thing I thought is that he looks just like his pictures," Hall said. "He was very kind and you could tell he was really good at meet-and-greet PR events because he knew exactly what to say."

Hall said a friend had to remind her what she said to the prince, since she got caught up in the moment. She told him about the physical training she had done in the hills of Portland in the United Kingdom recently, near where the Olympic sailing venue will be.

"It was also really funny to see him christen the British team's Olympic 49er skiff with a beer," Hall said. "I think he was pretty amused too."

Hall's windsurfing races are set for the week of July 31 to August 7 in Weymouth, a town on the southwest coast of the United Kindgom.
