PHOTOS: Bay Hills Barracudas Swim for a Cure

Dozens of local swimmers took a dip in the Bay Hills pool recently for the inaugural Fins for a Cure.

The following was sent to Patch by Esme Smith, a local Broadneck resident.

The Bay Hills Swim Team on Sunday hosted the inaugural Fins for a Cure at Bay Hills Swim Club in Arnold.

The Swim Across America (SAA) swim-a-thon raised more than $7,000 for the cancer research lab the group funds at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. DRD Pools, which owns and operates the Bay Hills pool, donated the pool time.

Representatives of SAA and Johns Hopkins were on hand to speak with participants about their combined missions while swimmers could not wait to jump into the pool to swim laps and take part in some crazy relays.

In addition to Bay Hills team members and parents swimming, Ulmstead Swim Team members also joined in the fun.
